Pests in Wheat - In Crop
Constraint - Aphids
The agricultural significance of aphids lies primarily in their ability to transmit viruses to the plants on which they feed. The impact of direct feeding (in the absence of virus) is not clearly established. Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) is transmitted by cereal aphids, which if widespread can cause yield loss.
- Adults may be winged or wingless
- Immature stages resemble smaller versions of the wingless adults
